A quiet revolution began in Lagos with the birth of ARTCATION, a one-of-a-kind exhibition that merges visual art and gastronomy into an unforgettable sensory experience. One year later, the groundbreaking concept returns with its third edition, titled “ARTCATION IS A REFLECTION.”
Created by Gbotemi, a visionary curator and rising voice in African culture, ARTCATION was born from the desire to make art not just something you see, but something you feel. By pairing three original artworks with a three-course meal, each edition creates an immersive, emotionally resonant journey designed to awaken memory, meaning, and identity.
The first edition, “ARTCATION ON THE MENU” (in collaboration with Coffee & Co.), introduced the now-signature pairing of cuisine by Chef Colombs and curated art by Joseph Abdallah, Mosun “Mo” Mewase, and 12th the Creator. The second, “ARTCATION IS MONOCHROME” (supported by Wakanow Nigeria and Trace Naija), explored the symbolic power of black and white across every dish and canvas.

Guests at the second edition included cultural leaders such as Nike Macaulay, CEO of Wakanow Nigeria, who noted:
“Experiencing African culture through art is powerful. Wakanow is proud to be part of something that tells a new story of how people see Africans—beyond travel, through experience.”
Now, the third edition, “ARTCATION IS A REFLECTION,” invites guests to explore the emotional intersections of memory and identity. Featuring mirrored installations and intimate storytelling, this chapter promises a deeper, more personal encounter with art.
Curator and founder Gbotemi explained:
“Art should be experienced—whether you’re an enthusiast or just someone seeking beauty. When we appeal to taste, we tap into nostalgia, memory, and emotion. That’s the true core of ARTCATION.”
With a yet-to-be-unveiled lineup of artists and culinary talents, the event remains intentionally intimate and highly curated. As brands, culture lovers, and media outlets seek authentic experiences that cut through the noise, ARTCATION continues to offer something rare: a story you can feel.
